Upanup is proud to announce the launch of Puget Sound Regional Council's (PSRC) new website, psrc.org. Puget Sound in Washington state (US) is home to over four million people and the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) is responsible for making decisions about transportation, growth management, and economic development.

With nearly 100 members, PSRC determined they were in need of a website redesign and when Drupal announced it would be sunsetting Drupal 7, the content management system (CMS) their existing website was built with, it was a perfect opportunity to overhaul the entire site. This would allow them to refresh the appearance of the website and improve the navigation in addition to the CMS. The new website has already seen a large increase in traffic compared to the old site. There has been a 58% increase in the number of website users compared to the months pre-launch.

"Working with Upanup has been an amazing experience. We hired them to redesign our agency website with the aim of making it more user-friendly, accessible, and easier to manage for website editors. Upanup's team more than delivered. Everyone we’ve interacted with, from our project manager to folks in marketing, design, and development, has been wonderful. They’re incredibly organized, easy to work with, highly responsive when we’ve asked questions, and deliver on what they promise."

The refreshed website features unique tools and components to provide users with an enhanced experience. This includes:

  • Translation tool - within the top header there is a translation tool so no matter where you are on the site you can translate the page content to your preferred language. This is an important feature for accessibility and readability and is becoming increasingly popular among governments.
  • Community project engagement - users can filter through the various regional projects by topic or those that are gathering feedback. Users can find valuable project information such as the project timeline and the various ways to submit feedback
  • Feedback forms - these forms allow users to easily provide feedback on the new site and provide PSRC with valuable insights to consistently improve their digital content and address user pain points
  • Meeting documents - prior to the website redesign and development users had to know which meeting a document was attached to in order to find it. To improve the user experience we built the site so users can now search meeting documents by committee filter and keywords.

The new website is fully responsive and meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards and, by incorporating user experience (UX) testing into this project, the site is optimized so all users can find information and use the site with various devices and abilities.

Upanup invites visitors to explore the new website and view the below video that outlines the new navigation and features of the site.
