Foothills County

eScribe Feed Integration

Foothills County is a beautiful and diverse region just below Calgary, Alberta, serving a population of over 22,000 residents. It's also only a few hours from the City of Edmonton and the City of Lethbridge, as well as the U.S.A. border.

Its agricultural communities include many farms, ranches, and acreages. And its many urban towns offer city living, as well as nearby recreational activities year-round.

The Challenge

The Foothills County uses eScribe for Council meetings, as well as the meeting minutes and agendas. However, the process to update the public-facing website wasn't very efficient nor user-friendly.

The Solution

Upanup created a system that pulls eScribe meeting events and their associated document links, such as meeting agendas, into the County's website. The County can also add other documents directly to that event on the website, such as meeting minutes. This makes it quicker for the County to show this information to the public, and it's more user-friendly for the community.

The new calendar of events also allows the County to create their own events (on top of the eScribe ones that pull in automatically), such as policy committee meetings.

The Results

The new tool created for the County offers the following benefits:

  • No duplication of work by the County's staff
  • Better user experience for the public
  • The information in the events is now searchable on the website's global search

The solution can show in either the calendar view or the list view, as seen in the following screenshots.
