City of Kelowna
The City of Kelowna is the largest city in B.C.’s Okanagan Valley and one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in Canada. The City's primary goal was to transform their website into an intuitive, service-oriented platform to elevate the user experience. Using intuitive navigation tools, prominently displayed services, and integrated databases, systems and platforms, Upanup designed and developed the City’s main municipal site, kelowna.ca, as well as two additional web properties, ylw.kelowna.ca, and theatre.kelowna.ca, within one multi-site network. Creating an efficient and effective system to carry the City into the future.
The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission operates the recreation and cultural facilities in North Vancouver. After consolidating with the Arts Office in 2014, they needed a refreshed visual brand to reflect their new culture mandate, and a new website that made it easier for residents to search and register for programs, while still integrating with their third-party registration software.
Upanup built a website that simplifies program registration, adds numerous features (like the build-your-own Program Guide) and combines both the recreation and culture mandates of NVRC.
City of Vernon
The largest city in the North Okanagan Regional District, the City of Vernon needed a website solution that could both appeal to Vernon residents and make it easier for city staff to manage content.
For residents, Upanup created a user-friendly design with multiple navigation paths to make it easier to find information and services. For staff, Upanup created and implemented different internal user roles, ensuring that different sections were in the hands of the right staff.
The result? A two-time award-winning government website.
As the manufacturer of the best-selling utility aircraft in the world, Viking Air Inc. needed an accessible platform to support their Twin Otter Series 400 sales and deHavilland legacy aircraft OEM support. The new site provides user-centered navigation, along with content customized to the needs of the user’s mission. In addition, the one-of-a-kind “Spec Your Aircraft” online tool puts users in the pilot’s seat—enabling them to customize the Series 400 to suit their needs, while the new blog provides a dedicated space to support marketing efforts and share the Viking story.
Township of Esquimalt

Greater Victoria School District
The Greater Victoria School District (GVSD) needed a multi-website solution that would allow each of their 47 schools to showcase their personality while maintaining continuity between sites. The resulting website family, including Eagle View Elementary School, met the needs of the District’s diverse stakeholder groups including each school’s need to self-publish sections of their website’s content. Completing the GVSD website family, Upanup crafted sd61.bc.ca. Featuring an interactive site map, which filters schools by type and location in a user-friendly interface, the GVSD site provides a one-stop portal for district information.

The Town of Okotoks is a vibrant community located 18km south of Calgary, Alberta. The design and development of Okotoks.ca was how Upanup began its relationship with the Town, and the success of that project led to the production of the Town’s tourism site, okotokstourism.ca.
The Town wanted to produce a creative, inspiring, and interactive tourism website to entice visitors to explore what Okotoks has to offer. The result was an award-winning website that provides an interactive experience for users and can be customized based on their needs. We used simplified navigation, highlighted itineraries, and integrated maps with pinned locations of where to eat, sleep, and play, to allow users to find exactly what they are looking for quickly, easily, and from any device.
BC Assembly of First Nations
The British Columbia Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) is a Provincial Territorial Organization that represents First Nations in B.C.
To make information on First Nation economic development resources and communities easily accessible, Upanup developed two custom directories, a Resource Centre and Community Profiles, to incorporate into BCAFN’s existing website. The directories integrate data from the B.C. Data catalogue and use an interactive Google Map to deliver comprehensive information in an engaging way. In addition to the directories, we redesigned the site’s homepage to create an improved user experience and to draw site visitors into more valuable sections of the site.
